Sweetener Study

In this study, we are evaluating the effects of the long-term use of allulose, a low-calorie alternative to table sugar (sucrose).
All participants will receive reimbursement of €650 upon completion of the study.

What's involved in participating

Study Schedule

There are 5 visits to our clinic over 8 months.

Study Product

You must consume 1 of the 3 assigned products for 7 months.

Study Groups

Those in the healthy group may be placed randomly in the allulose, sucrose, or water group. Those in the Type II Diabetic group will be placed automatically in the allulose group.

MRI

In addition to clinic visits, you will be required to attend 2 MRIs at Mater Private Cork

Allulose Info

Allulose is a low-calorie sweetening ingredient that exists in nature and offers the taste and texture of sugar without all the calories. It is 70% as sweet as sugar with only 10% of the calories. Allulose can be found in foods such as figs, raisins, molasses, and maple syrup. Additionally, allulose does not raise blood glucose or insulin
